Anti-Abortion Activists See Their Moon-Shot Goal Within Reach

Proposals to punish pregnant people aren’t new; the first abortion abolitionist groups formed more than a decade ago, convinced that larger anti-abortion groups were morally bankrupt and ignoring the teachings of God. Abortion abolitionism then got a major boost in the late 2010s, when some evangelical pastors began preaching about it.

These activists worked with Bradley Pierce, a Texas abortion abolitionist and lawyer who represented homeschooling families, to promote laws punishing women in states across the country.
