Abolitionists Reach Thousands of Christian Conservatives at Turning Point USA AmFest

Several team members from the Foundation to Abolish Abortion, as well as our friends from Students for Abolition, sponsored a booth at Turning Point USA’s AmFest last week.

This event provided us with the opportunity to reach thousands of Christian conservatives and engage them in the work of abolition at a crucial juncture for the conservative movement.

We were blessed with the chance to impact thousands with biblical arguments about abolishing abortion, and showed that grassroots conservative Christians are overwhelmingly ready to reject the dogma of the Pro-Life establishment.

Pounding the Pavement

AmFest is currently one of the most important annual conferences in the conservative movement. After the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the conference this year was the largest in the history of Turning Point USA, and the eyes of the nation were fixed on the event.

The team from the Foundation to Abolish Abortion sponsored a booth at AmFest, providing us with a central base of operation from which to distribute literature and have conversations. We indeed distributed thousands of literature pieces, centered largely on exposing Pro-Life establishment compromise and advertising our docuseries “Abortion-Free,” and had many hundreds of conversations with attendees.

We were joined by our friends from Students for Abolition, a new campus organization led by a team of young Christian men seeking to equip college students who want to oppose abortion and spread the gospel at their schools.

They likewise distributed thousands of literature pieces and already have multiple leads for new campus chapters. Because the plurality of AmFest attendees are politically motivated young people, this conference presented many chances to find new chapters and recruits.

Beyond speaking directly to the grassroots, we were able to network with conservative leaders, obtain contacts for future media coverage, and even present the case for equal protection to Republican elected officials and candidates for office.

Reaching the Right

AmFest attendees who visited our booth were able to take surveys about their stances on abolition and equal protection for the chance to win a custom silver coin or an Amazon gift card.

The survey questions asked about the second victim narrative, the need to penalize women who willfully have abortions, and the tendency of Pro-Life groups to subvert equal protection bills. Between 70% and 80% of AmFest attendees aligned with the abolitionist stances on all three questions, once more showing that the conservative grassroots embrace equal protection.

Pro-Life organizations have argued for years that the advance of abolition would divide anti-abortion conservatives. But the survey results show that the grassroots are broadly united against Pro-Life establishment dogma and expect the anti-abortion groups to actually abolish abortion.

The results of the survey showed that even the Pro-Life establishment groups present at AmFest were missing the mark. Students for Life was distributing a flyer arguing against criminal penalties for women who willfully have abortions, a view that contrasted with an overwhelming majority of the attendees they were attempting to reach.

In spite of our disagreements, our team was able to have several amicable conversations with Pro-Life staffers who were also hosting exhibitions at AmFest, for which we were thankful.

These overwhelming successes from AmFest showed that abolitionists need to continue reaching Christians in the conservative movement with the case for equal protection.

The vast majority of everyday conservative Christians want to see abortion abolished. They may simply not know that many Pro-Life establishment groups do not share such goals. If we continue to challenge Pro-Life dogma and educate the grassroots about abolition, we can increase the influence of our movement in the Republican coalition and advance equal protection nationwide.

We are thankful to God for the opportunity to attend Turning Point USA’s AmFest. We pray that our Lord would establish the work of our hands and engage more Christians in the task of abolishing abortion once and for all.
