Bill to Abolish Abortion Introduced in Kansas
TOPEKA, KANSAS — House Bill 2789, which would abolish abortion in Kansas and establish equal protection of the laws for preborn babies, has been introduced in the Kansas House Committee on Federal and State Affairs.
House Bill 2789 is the only legislation that would truly criminalize abortion as murder in the Sunflower State. The measure ensures that all image-bearers of God, from the moment of fertilization, are protected with “the same criminal and civil laws protecting the lives of born persons” by repealing provisions that allow the homicide or assault of a preborn baby.
House Bill 2789 was introduced in the Kansas House Committee on Federal and State Affairs by request of Curtis Knapp, a pastor at New Hope Baptist Church and a member of the leadership team at Abortion Is Murder Kansas. The legislation therefore does not have a specific sponsor.
Kansas lawmakers have the duty before the risen and ascended Jesus Christ, who is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, to ensure that murdering anyone is illegal for everyone. House Bill 2789 would require that all humans made in the image of God are equally protected in accordance with the Kansas Constitution, the United States Constitution, and the Law of God.
House Bill 2789 would close loopholes allowing women to willfully obtain abortions. The language in current Kansas law exempting from prosecution “any act committed by the mother” who chooses to murder her preborn baby would be repealed by the legislation.
Unless lawmakers in Kansas establish equal protection of the laws for preborn babies, they cannot expect abortion to be abolished, and preborn image-bearers of God will continue to be murdered.
